AEO for PRP clinics

PRP queries span three distinct intents: facial rejuvenation, hair restoration, and combined treatments like PRP microneedling. AI surfaces shortlist different clinics for each, and a clinic visible for one intent is rarely visible for all three.

How AI surfaces handle prp queries

The newer cousin, PRF (platelet-rich fibrin), is increasingly named in AI answers as a comparator. Clinics that offer both PRP and PRF and publish a comparison page tend to outrank clinics that only mention PRP. The comparison page does not need to be long: it needs to name both, explain the difference plainly, and live at a stable URL.

The audit measures coverage across the three intent buckets (facial, hair, combined) and the PRP-vs-PRF comparison axis. We also measure trust signals specific to PRP: patients ask AI assistants questions like “PRP by a doctor near me” more often than for any other treatment in the basket, so provider credentialing on-page is unusually high-leverage for this category.

This discipline is also called GEO (Generative Engine Optimization): same concept, different name. We use the term AEO.

Three intents, one clinic

Visible for PRP facial does not mean visible for PRP hair

PRP queries split into facial, hair restoration, and combined treatments, and AI surfaces shortlist different clinics for each. Ranking well for one intent says nothing about the other two.

The audit scores all three separately, plus the PRP-vs-PRF comparison axis that is increasingly showing up in AI answers.

Common prp comparators

Patients often ask ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Google AI Overviews, and Perplexity to compare prp against related treatments and brands:

  • PRF
  • Vampire facial
  • PRP hair restoration
  • PRP microneedling

The full comparison axis is part of the 36-query basket we run for every audit.

Frequently asked

  • Do AI surfaces treat PRP for face and PRP for hair as the same query?
No. The retrieval shortlist is meaningfully different. A clinic ranking well for “PRP facial Sunnyvale” may rank zero for “PRP hair loss Sunnyvale.” The audit measures both separately because the underlying signal (which content pages exist) differs.
  • How important is naming the centrifuge or system you use?
Moderately. Patients sometimes query by system (EmCyte, Magellan, Eclipse PRP). Naming the system on the treatment page adds a retrieval handle for clinicians-seeking-clinicians traffic. Lower priority than the basics but worth flagging in the page copy.
  • Will AI assistants compare PRP to alternatives like exosomes?
Increasingly yes. Exosome therapy is appearing in AI comparison answers for skin and hair queries. A short on-page note distinguishing PRP from exosomes (without making medical claims) gives the surfaces a citation handle for the comparison cluster.
