Questions to ask any AI visibility agency

Before you hire anyone to help your clinic show up when patients ask AI, ask them who will do the work, which AI platforms they check by name, and whether you can see your own clinic’s numbers before you pay. A good agency answers every question below in writing, with dates and sources, including the ones where its answer is not flattering.

Who will do the work, and will they meet me at my clinic?

Why it matters
The person who measures your clinic should be the person who explains it to you. If you can never meet them, you cannot ask the follow-up question that matters.
A good answer
A named person, the same one each month, who can come to you or explains clearly how and when you will talk.
Red flag
An “office” you cannot visit, a shared toll-free number, or a sales rep who hands you off after you sign.
Our answer

Jonah Samarron does the work personally. Sunnyvale AEO is an independent, owner-operated practice in Sunnyvale. Your first report is printed and walked to your front desk within 24 hours of intake.

Which AI platforms do you check, by name, and do you report each one separately?

Why it matters
Patients ask different assistants, and each one gives a different answer. An agency that checks one or two platforms can miss where you are invisible.
A good answer
A list of named platforms, with a separate result for each one, not a single blended number with no breakdown.
Red flag
“All the major AI platforms” with no names, or a single score you cannot break apart.
Our answer

Five, every audit: ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Google AI Overviews, and Perplexity. We report each one separately, and we keep Google AI Overviews and Gemini apart on purpose, because they are different products.

How many patient questions do you ask, and do you ask the same ones every month?

Why it matters
AI answers change from one ask to the next. A screenshot of one good answer proves very little. The same questions, asked the same way each month, show a real trend.
A good answer
A stated number of questions, the kinds of questions, and a promise that the list stays fixed so this month can be compared with last month.
Red flag
No number, a different set of questions each month, or proof that is one screenshot.
Our answer

36 patient questions per clinic, asked of ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and Perplexity, plus 18 cost and consideration questions sent to Google AI Overviews: 162 checks in total. All five platforms are re-measured every 30 days on the same question list.

Proof: Methodology

Can I see my own clinic’s numbers, and a sample report, before I pay anything?

Why it matters
You should see the problem before you pay to fix it. If an agency will only show results after you sign, you are paying for a promise.
A good answer
A free first look at your own clinic, with dates and sources, that you keep whether or not you buy, plus a sample of the monthly report.
Red flag
A “free audit” that turns out to be a sales call, or no sample report at all.
Our answer

Yes. The audit is free, carries no cost and no obligation to buy anything, and the printed report is yours to keep. A sample report is linked below.

Can you show me results for a client of your own, with dates, and tell me what the result does not prove?

Why it matters
Many agencies show results that belong to someone else, or to a business the founder owns. Ask whose result it is, when it was measured, and what it leaves out.
A good answer
The agency’s own client (named or anonymized), the dates, the questions asked, which platforms moved and which did not, and a plain list of limits.
Red flag
Big percentages with no dates, results labeled as “industry examples”, or a “first client” that is the agency’s own business.
Our answer

Yes. I can show you the proof, with dates.

What exactly does your guarantee pay back, and what does it not cover?

Why it matters
“Guaranteed results” can mean almost anything. The details decide whether the guarantee is worth something to you.
A good answer
What is measured, by when, what you get back if it is missed, what you must do on your side, and what is never refunded.
Red flag
“Guaranteed number one”, “guaranteed bookings”, or a guarantee whose conditions you only see after signing.
Our answer

We commit to a 30% increase in the number of patient questions where at least one of the five AI platforms names your clinic, within 90 days, measured against your free audit on the same questions. If your audit names you in fewer than 5 questions, the target is at least 3 more questions instead. If we miss, we refund your most recent month’s retainer. The setup fee is not refundable, because what we deploy stays yours. The commitment depends on you giving us the access we need, answering on time, and keeping our changes in place. A delay on your side never voids the commitment; it extends the 90 days by the length of the delay.

Is your price written down, and how do I leave?

Why it matters
A price you only hear on a call is hard to compare. Knowing how to leave tells you how confident the agency is that you will want to stay.
A good answer
A published price, what it includes, the minimum term, the notice period, and what you keep when you stop.
Red flag
“It depends” with no starting number, a long lock-in, or work that disappears when you cancel.
Our answer

Yes, it’s published on our pricing page. Cancel any time. What we set up stays yours.

Will you also work for my competitor down the street?

Why it matters
An agency cannot push two clinics in the same neighborhood to the top of the same answer at the same time.
A good answer
A written rule about how many clinics like yours they take in your area, and when it starts.
Red flag
No rule, or a rule so vague (“one per market”) that you cannot tell what it covers.
Our answer

At signing, we lock your zip code to you for as long as you are a client. While you are active, we will not take on another medspa in the same zip.

What will you not promise?

Why it matters
Nobody controls what ChatGPT or any other AI says. An agency that promises a spot on a specific answer is guessing, or hoping you will not check.
A good answer
A plain list of what is outside their control, and what they will measure instead.
Red flag
“We’ll get you to number one”, or a promise about bookings or revenue.
Our answer

We do not guarantee first place on any question. The AI platforms are outside our control and change all the time. We work on what they weigh, and we measure the result the same way every month. If your free audit shows you are already named, the report says so.
